I wrapped some paper around the lamp base and shade and used water color to paint it. It looks a little funky but more modern.

    Definite improvement. It is a shame about the lack of modern lamps on the market. I finally gave up looking for them and have started make my own. They'll be on my blog shortly. Congrats on your house coming together.
